What are you displaying?
...a few suggestions to help you select the perfect case.

Over the years we've built and sold displays cases for everything imaginable....Or so I think until someone comes to us with something new.  In addition to a ton of cases for arrowheads, badges, medals, flags, guns, knives, and coins, we've also built cases for guitars, sombreros, a 2 million year old fossilized bison skull, boomerangs, antique sparkplugs, and even a case for the shirt a New Orleans Police officer was wearing "the last time" he was shot. (Don't worry....it was the officer that bought the case).  I thought that was probably the strangest item we had displayed until recently when a Fort Worth customer purchased a case to display 50 PROSTHETIC EYES!  I do wish I had a photo of that one.

If you are a bit unsure of which case will suit your needs best, take a look at the list below and perhaps we can give you a few hints to help you decide.  If you are still unsure, feel free to give us a call or email us....especially if you've got something stranger to display than prosthetic eyes.

  • Arrowheads
  • Badges
  • Bayonets & Bowie Knives
  • Revolvers
  • Semi-automatic Pistols
  • Coins
  • Straight Knives
  • Fishing Lures
  • Flintlock Pistols
  • Hot Wheels or Matchbox Cars
  • Medals & Pins
  • Flags
  • Pocket Knives
  • Ammo/Cartridges
  • Thimbles
  • Writing Pens
  • Buckles
  • Arrowheads

Any of our 2" cases will work great for arrowheads, spearpoints, and artifacts under 1" thick.  You will not need to adjust the interior foam at all....just arrange the arrowheads on the color of your choice and close the lid.  They'll stay right where you put them.

Any of the woods work well, but our Weathered Wood cases are especially popular with our arrowhead collectors.

Any of the interior colors that do not hide your arrowheads will work well.  There are a lot of Black or Grey points, so those might not be your best choices.  Brownish points might not show up well against the Maroon.  They will show up against the Red, but if that's a bit loud for you then consider the Green.  Its probably the color that we sell most for arrowhead displays.

    Badges

Any of our 2" cases will work for your badges.  Don't forget our 10"x24"x3" Pistol Combo if you have both a pistol and badges to display.

Wood choice is a matter of personal preference.

Blue is the popular color choice for most of our Police related displays, but the Black looks really nice too.

    Bayonets & Bowie Knives

Bayonets, as well as large Bowie knives, are sometimes just a little thick for the 2" cases, yet barely thick enough for the 3" cases.  Given only those two choices the 3" case would be your best choice.  However....we do build a few 2.5" thick cases that work great for such items.  They may not be listed yet on the website, but a few of the 2.5" sizes that we try to keep on hand for larger blades are:

    • 7"x18"
    • 10"x18"
    • 10"x24"

    Revolvers

You will need a 3" case for all but the very smallest revolvers.  We recommend the following sizes:

Wood choice is a matter of personal preference, but we do sell a good bit of Weathered Wood for older "western" guns.

Choose an interior color that will contrast well with the gun being displayed.  Chrome or Nickel plating, stag, ivory, or mother-of-pearl handles look great against the Black.  We probably sell more pistol cases with Green interiors for blued guns.

    Semi-automatic Pistols

The 9"x12"x3" case is the size that we sell most often for semi-automatics such as 9mm or 45 Autos.  If you need a little more room for something like a Luger with a longer barrel, the 9.5"x16"x3" should fill the bill.

    Coins

Any of the 2" cases will work fine for coins.  We occasionally make a few 1.5" thick cases that are only 1/2" inside depth.  These are great for coins, however, the flip latches that we have to install on these thinner cases are not keyed locking latches.  All of our 2" cases do come with keyed  latches.

Wood choice is simply a matter of personal preference here.

Stay with the darker colors like Maroon, Green, Blue, or even the Black to show off your coin collection.

    Straight Knives
Most straight knives will fit in our 2" cases just fine.  We do, however, build a few dimensions in a 2.5" thickness especially for straight knives.  These may not be listed on the site yet, but they are available.  For displaying a knife and sheath, consider about a 9.5"x16" or 10"x18".  For displaying a single knife we build a 7" width x 2.5" deep (1.5" inside) in a variety of lengths from 12" to 18".

    Fishing Lures

The 2" cases should work for most lure collections, but it depends on the thickness of the lures.  If you have lures over 1" thick they will need a deeper case.  Check with us for some 2.5" inch cases, which we do build, but may or may not have in stock at any given time.

Weathered Wood is always popular with our lure collectors.

Color choice really depends on the color of lures being displayed....which can really vary a lot!  Try to select a color that will contrast with the majority of the lures in your collection.

    Flintlock Pistols
Flintlocks usually require a slightly thicker case than we normally stock.  We can build you a 3.5" or 4" case for these guns.  Usually a 10" width looks good with a length of anywhere from 20" to 24" depending on the individual pistol.

    Hot Wheels or Matchbox Cars
We do build a 3" case with adjustable 1/4" glass shelves that works great for Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars.  Shelved cases are not listed on the website yet, so you need to contact us about this case.

    Medals & Pins
Military medals, Olympic pins, Hard Rock Cafe pins....any such items will look fantastic in any of our 2" cases.  The dimension you choose just depends on how many you would have to display....as well as how much room you have on the wall.  Remember, if you are still actively collecting an item consider selecting a slightly larger size.  Its always looks better to spread them out and fill in as your collection grows than to get one case too overcrowded.  I have had one customer get as many as 90 Hard Rock Cafe pins in our 18"x24"x2".  It was FULL!

    Flags

Fist you MUST know the size of the flag you wish to display.  If you are unsure and don't want to unfold the flag, just email us the folded dimesions and we'll be glad to help out.  Here are a few tips:

    • Memorial Flags - such as those presented at military funerals are 5'x9' cotton flags, unless they were presented during or prior to WWII.  Those tend to be a bit larger.  The flags being presented recently have embroidered stars, instead of sewn on stars, and tend to fold a little bit thicker.  Any of our 3" Flag or Flag & Medal cases will accomodate your memorial flag.

    • Cerimonial Flags - such as those flown over the U.S. Capitol, state capitols, military bases or ships.....may be a little more confusing since they might be 3'x5', 4x6', or 5'x8'....plus they could be made of cotton or nylon.  Cotton flags fold a little bit thicker and work better in a 3" case.  Nylon will work in a 3" case, but we do a few 2.5" cases which work fine for them as well.  The most common size we get orders for is the 3'x5' size so we do build a  Tri Case, a Flag & Certificate Case, and a small Sqare Flage & Medal which can also be used to display two 3'x5' flags.

    Pocket Knives

Any of our 2" cases work well for pocket knives.  You may or may not need to remove one of the 1/2" layers of foam depending on the thickness of your collection.  Most of the time pocket knives work fine with both layers left in.

Wood choice is purely a matter of personal preference here.

Same goes for interior color choice, although most knives probably look best on one of the darker backgrounds such as the Maroon, Blue, Green.  If your knives are stag, ivory, or mother-of-pearl handles they look awesome against the Black.

    Ammo/Cartridges
Any of our 2" cases should work fine for cartridge collections.

    Thimbles
Thimbles look great in one of our 18"x24"x3" cases with 1/4" glass shelves with about 8 shelves.  It may not be listed on the site yet, so email us about this case if you are interested.  My Grandmother loves hers!

    Writing Pens

Any of our 2" cases will work great for writing pen collections.  Try arranging the pens in an interesting pattern rather than just lining them up in straight rows.

Wood choice is a matter of personal preference here.

Interior color choice is a matter of personal preference too.  It really depends on the color of the pens in the display.  Choose a color that will contrast best with the majority of the pens.

    Buckles
Most trophey buckles will work fine in a 2" case with one layer of foam removed.  If you have several thick buckles and one or two thinner buckles, try removing one layer of foam to accomodate the thicker buckles and place a small piece of foam underneath the few thinner buckles to block them up. Thinner or flatter buckles will also work in a 2" case with both layers of foam left in place.
